SCHOOL OF VOCATIONAL TRAINING

What is vocational training?  Vocational training can be described as training that emphasizes knowledge and skills needed for a specific trade, craft or job function.Earlier, this training was confined to certain trades like welding, automotive services, and carpentry but the horizon of vocational training has expanded with the evolution of time.

Vocational training is also known as vocational education and training (VET) basically focuses on practical applications of the skills learned or acquired and it provides the much needed hands-on instruction in a specific trade.  Students can abstain from attending general education courses associated with most post-secondary programs and that is why it can be said that VET is basically unconcerned with theory or traditional academic skills.  It works as a connecting link between theoretical education and the real working environment and, students can join these types of programs at the school level or post-secondary level as well.

ADMISSIONS TO THE

SCHOOL OF VOCATIONAL TRAINING

As stated in the Acadmeic Catalog for HIPDET Univerity, no requirements are needed besides the willingness to learn for admission into the School of Vocaitonal Training.  All certificate programs are connected with one of our eleven other schools in the University.

ADMISSION – CERTIFICATE DEGREE

Upon submission of an application, you may be admitted as a certificate degree or non‑degree student. If so admitted,

(1) Your eligibility for enrollment in certificate programs or specific courses will be

dependent upon meeting the stated course prerequisites.

We believe in giving everyone a chance in education.  Individuals who do not possess a diploma from secondary education, will be permitted admission into the certificate degree programs from the School of Vocational Training.  If a student completes the certificate program with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.  Then the student will be granted conditional admission into either the associate’s or bachelor’s degree programs.  Conditional status will be placed upon the student for the first year of his/her studies into an associate or bachelor’s degree programs, however if a GPA of 2.5 is maintained during two consecutive semesters, then the conditional status will be lifted, and student will be placed as a regular student.
